RELIGIOUS EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN/TEENS
Thank you for your interest in educating your child(ren) in the faith. In our religious education classes, your child will continue to learn about being a child of God, Christian discipleship, doctrine and how to recognize God’s voice among the many voices in today’s world. We especially welcome those families that have children who would like to receive the sacraments (First Communion, Penance and Confirmation) this school year. These children should be enrolled in Sunday School RCIC (Rites of Christian Initiation for Children) since this is where they will receive catechesis on the Sacraments.
Our 2015/16 Sunday school classes will begin at the school building (15th & East Capitol Sts., SE – enter through doors in parking lot near 15th Street) on Sunday, September 2oth at 9:30am for our youth in Pre-k thru 12th grade and meets every Sunday at this time (9:30-10:45am) and location up through May 2016. We encourage our families who have children who are not enrolled in Catholic elementary or high school to enroll their children so that they may receive a comprehensive study of our Catholic faith and how Jesus works in our lives.
Please complete the registration form and return it to the rectory as soon as possible to the attention of Shirley Austin. You may drop off your forms at the rectory office; fax to 22-544-1385; email to email@example.com or mail to the Church (address on registration form). Please complete one form per child and we kindly ask you to print the information so that it is legible.
For those who are new to the program, we also host an Adult Catechesis Class at the same time that our youth are attending Sunday school in the school cafeteria. This is an excellent opportunity for our parents to fellowship and to learn what their children are learning about their faith. Last year, we had a great year and we would like to increase participation from all our parents as we feel that parental catechesis is as vital as that of our children. Please complete a registration form for the Adult Session if you are interested in attending and submit with your child’s registration. We are always looking for parents to assist with set-up, clean-up and to bring coffee and supplies for the adult sessions. Please consider volunteering.
Let’s make this another great year. I know God has something remarkable for us to learn about Him. We look forward to working with you and your children in the fall.
